Subpoenas Issued to the Biden Family: A Major Turn of Events

Biden Family Subpoenaed in House Oversight Committee’s Investigation into Foreign Deals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Oversight Committee Chair, James Comer (R-KY), issued subpoenas to Hunter and James Biden this Thursday, aiming to uncover further details about the Biden family’s overseas dealings. The move comes 315 days following the initiation of a formal investigation into the Biden family, including President Joe Biden.

The subpoenas, targeting the bank records of both Hunter and James Biden, intend to ascertain the connection between President Joe Biden and his family’s international business ventures.

During Thursday’s hearing, marking the beginning of the first impeachment inquiry into President Biden, Comer said, “The witnesses today have all identified the evidence the committee has uncovered as deserving further inquiry. And that is what this committee will do, no matter where that evidence leads.”

Comer’s announcement continued, “One of those steps is gaining insight into where the Biden’s foreign money ended up and for what purposes. Therefore, today I will subpoena the bank records of Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their affiliated companies.”

Although the Oversight Committee had considered issuing these subpoenas since its investigation’s onset in November 2022, they held back, practicing restraint to “show good faith.” Hunter Biden had previously refused the committee’s February request for bank records, arguing that the request lacked a “legitimate legislative and oversight basis.”

The patience of the committee seemingly waned when House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) initiated an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This move grants House investigators enhanced legal means to compel the Bidens to cooperate with the investigation.

A recent YouGov/CBS News poll has shown that half of the independent voters support the idea of impeaching Joe Biden. Concurrent polling reveals a majority sentiment among voters that Joe Biden had involvement in his family’s business. This contradicts his long-standing claim of no business discussions with Hunter Biden.

Several polls, including from sources like CNN, Yahoo/YouGov, Harvard/HarrisX, and Harvard Cap/Harris, indicate that a majority of respondents believe in Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s business deals.

Throughout their investigation, House Republicans have disclosed considerable evidence that suggests Joe Biden’s active participation in the family business, including photographs, text messages, video footage, bank statements, audio recordings, purported bribes, as well as testimonies from the IRS and former business associates. Comer’s Oversight Committee has also released a 20-point memo detailing “Evidence of Joe Biden’s Involvement in His Family’s Influence Peddling Schemes.”

Among the more recent revelations is the claim that Joe Biden’s address received two wire transfers from associates of BHR Partners in the middle of 2019, amassing $260,000. Legal documentation states that during this period, Hunter Biden did not reside with his father in Delaware, where the funds were wired. Additionally, the House Ways and Means Committee introduced evidence from IRS whistleblowers suggesting Hunter Biden had marketed access to Joe Biden, referring to it as “the keys” to “my family’s only asset.”
