U.S. Customs and Border Protection Warns of Possible Terrorist Infiltration through Southern Border

In a recent advisement marked “Law Enforcement Sensitive,” the San Diego Field Office of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Department’s Intelligence Division has issued a stark warning to law enforcement agencies along the U.S. southern border. The advisory highlights the risk of terrorist groups like Hamas attempting to enter the United States, exploiting the vulnerabilities of the open southern border.

The agency has expressed concern about individuals within the U.S. who harbor sympathies for Hamas, stating that they may attempt to exit the country through the southern border to join the group in conflict areas. Additionally, the advisory warns of the potential for foreign fighters associated with Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to enter the U.S. discreetly by blending in with other migrants.

Despite the gravity of the situation, there appears to be a lack of action and public acknowledgment from the Biden administration, raising questions about the federal government’s commitment to addressing this critical security issue. With the U.S. having experienced an unprecedented influx of illegal border crossings in the last two years, there is a growing concern that terrorists may have already exploited these gaps in border security.

The Center for Immigration Studies reports that over 1.3 million individuals have entered the U.S. illegally and evaded capture in 2023 alone, creating a complex challenge for law enforcement agencies trying to track and mitigate potential threats.

In the midst of these concerns, Hamas has issued a global call to arms, urging Arabs worldwide to mobilize and fight for the Palestinian cause. This statement has been interpreted by security experts as a clear and unambiguous call for violence, with potential implications for security not just in the Middle East, but around the world, including the U.S.

Despite these alarming developments, the Department of Homeland Security, under the leadership of Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, has not made any significant policy changes or resource allocations to strengthen border security and counter this imminent threat.

Critics argue that this inaction puts American lives at risk, and that the responsibility for any future terrorist attacks on U.S. soil will lie squarely on the shoulders of the Biden administration and its inability to effectively secure the nation’s borders. They call for immediate and decisive action to uphold national security and protect innocent civilians from the threat of terrorism.
