Guy Fieri Faces Backlash for Friendly Chat with Trump at UFC Event

Guy Fieri and Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump’s surprise appearance at UFC 290 in Las Vegas sparked controversy among leftists when he was seen interacting with various celebrities. UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan, along with actors Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson, are known for their political leanings. However, it was the encounter between Trump and the beloved celebrity chef and philanthropist Guy Fieri that stirred up outrage among progressives on Twitter. Fieri, who has always been viewed as largely apolitical and widely liked by Americans of all political stripes, now finds himself facing calls for cancellation simply for engaging in a civil conversation with Trump.

This incident sheds light on the great irony of 21st-century American culture. While claiming to oppose hate and advocate for inclusivity and tolerance, some individuals are consumed by intense rage toward anyone who holds differing opinions. It is disheartening to witness this almost homicidal rage, and in some cases, even literal homicidal threats, directed at those with whom they disagree.

Jack White, a well-known musician, expressed his strong disapproval of the Trump-Fieri encounter on Instagram, stating, “Anybody who ‘normalizes’ or treats this disgusting fascist, racist, con man, disgusting piece of s–t Trump with any level of respect is ALSO disgusting in my book. That’s you Joe Rogan, you Mel Gibson, you Mark Wahlberg, you Guy Fieri. This is a statement from me, not a discussion/debate.” White later left Twitter when Trump’s account was reinstated. It is remarkable to see the level of hatred that leads one to believe that another human being should not be “normalized.” While it might be rational to hold such views toward historical figures like Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin, equating Trump to them seems unfounded.

The most alarming aspect of the progressives’ anger is the extreme measures they often resort to. While not all engage in politically motivated violence, many dehumanize their perceived political or cultural enemies. This tactic has been used by ruthless totalitarians throughout history, as it enables individuals to justify spreading lies and inflicting verbal or physical abuse. Unfortunately, a significant percentage of modern left-wingers seem to adopt this approach.

Amidst this meltdown, leftists are now calling for boycotts of anything associated with Fieri, including The Food Network. Phrases like “he’s dead to me now” have surfaced. Suddenly, Fieri is being portrayed as a terrible person simply because he maintains a friendly relationship with Donald Trump. Perhaps these progressives should remember that even Bill and Hillary Clinton attended Trump’s wedding. If they were to scour the internet, they would undoubtedly find pictures of other celebrities, including Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, Snoop Dogg, and even Alec Baldwin himself, smiling and shaking hands with Trump. Some of these individuals have since expressed negative opinions about Trump, but they were once perfectly willing to socialize with him before his political career. One cannot suddenly label someone as a fascist and a racist overnight. However, these celebrities now consider Trump as such, which implies they were once content to associate, or at least be civil, with this supposedly terrible person.

If progressives wish to remain true to their professed principles, they may want to consider boycotting Hollywood, the music industry, and even football due to their association with figures like Tom Brady. Moreover, they should also acknowledge the numerous Democrat politicians who gladly accepted Trump’s donations in the past. Like Fieri, Trump was quite popular among leftists until he challenged Hillary Clinton’s bid for power.

To be fair, some Twitter leftists have adopted a more rational response to the outrage. Brian Krassenstein, for example, wrote, “Over 60 million Americans voted for Trump. Ostracizing anyone who is seen near him, voted for him, or associates with him in any way is the best way to ensure he is re-elected… It’s one thing to not vote for the guy. It’s irrational though to treat those who did as lepers. Please stop with the irrational outrage.” In reality, over 70 million Americans voted for Donald Trump, but Krassenstein’s point is well taken.

Ironically, while many progressives seemingly accept the normalization of gender dysphoria and pedophilia, certain factions on the left actively engage in normalizing these issues. One need only look up the term “minor attracted persons” to understand this disturbing trend. It is concerning that individuals like Jack White show no concern about these developments while vehemently opposing any normalization of Donald Trump. Perhaps it is time for White and other extreme progressives to reevaluate their value systems. One cannot claim to oppose hate and then practice it daily against fellow citizens simply because they hold different values.
