In a recent development at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, a video exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) has surfaced, seemingly depicting a U.S. service member guarding a room filled with undocumented immigrants. The footage was captured by Republican state Sen. Colton Moore, the vice chairman of the Georgia Freedom Caucus, who revealed that a whistleblower at the airport had tipped him off about the hidden room.
The video showcases a uniformed soldier overseeing a group of migrants and volunteers affiliated with Team Libertad, an organization that claims to assist migrants in their travels. One volunteer in the video states, “We’re all getting them flights to where they need to be. These are just recently documented travelers getting released from ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] getting to where they need to be.”
Senator Moore, heard in the video, explained that the soldier guarding the room eventually confiscated his phone, preventing further filming. Chaos ensued as individuals in the room shouted “no” and demanded Moore leave, creating a tense standoff between him and the apparent military personnel. Moore described the room as “absolutely packed with people from every continent on this planet.”
Team Libertad, a part of the nonprofit group Inspiritus, reportedly greets migrants at the airport and accompanies them to their departure gates. The organization, in a statement to the DCNF, emphasized that information about these travelers is protected by HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
The presence of a military member in the room remains unclear, and the Georgia National Guard, when questioned, stated they were “not aware of the incident in question or any such activity involving the Georgia National Guard at the airport.” The Pentagon did not respond to inquiries from the DCNF regarding this matter.
Moore underscored the recent surge in migrant traffic through the Atlanta airport, mirroring a broader trend observed in the United States. The Biden administration reportedly initiated secretive overnight flights transporting illegal migrants to New York as early as August 2021, according to The New York Post. Federal data indicates a record spike in illegal migrant crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border, with over 2.2 million encounters recorded in fiscal year 2022 and more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023.
Responding to the video, the Atlanta airport issued a statement accusing Senator Moore of interrupting their efforts to assist migrants. The airport claimed that Moore and another individual attempted to enter and record their volunteers, prompting concerned witnesses to call 911. The men were eventually escorted off the premises, according to the airport.
“Team Libertad is a non-profit that has worked at ATL since 2020, and there are no military or other law enforcement agencies involved in this effort. Immigrants are never housed in the airport,” the airport clarified in its statement to the DCNF.
The revelation of this video raises questions about the handling of undocumented immigrants at major U.S. airports and the involvement of military personnel in such operations, shedding light on a complex and controversial issue at the heart of the nation’s immigration debate.
