President Biden faced accusations of disrespect and a lack of decorum following a rather abrupt exit from the East Room of the White House during a Medal of Honor ceremony honoring Vietnam War veteran, retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor. The event unfolded on a Tuesday, leaving many in attendance and watching around the country puzzled by the President’s actions.

The ceremony had been progressing smoothly until the unexpected moment when President Biden, aged 80, hastily departed right after he had fastened the nation’s highest military decoration around Capt. Taylor’s neck. The ceremony wasn’t quite over yet, as Chaplain Brig. Gen. William Green Jr. was set to deliver the closing benediction. This untimely exit raised concerns about the President’s conduct and respect for military veterans, sparking outrage among some.

Prominent voices from the military community didn’t mince words in their criticism of President Biden’s actions. Former Navy SEAL and podcast host Shawn Ryan took to social media, venting his frustration, stating, “Pardon my French…But what a f—ing idiot. The continuous lack of respect Biden has for anyone is appalling. Hawaii, Service members, active shooter victims, the list goes on.”

Even Republican Representative Wesley Hunt, an Army veteran, couldn’t resist taking a dig at the President’s behavior. He quipped on Twitter, “At least he didn’t check his watch this time,” referring to a previous incident where Biden appeared to glance at his timepiece during a solemn ceremony for the 13 US troops killed in an August 2021 terror attack near the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.

The sudden departure prompted speculation about whether President Biden’s actions were pre-planned or simply another instance of the President seeming unsure of his whereabouts after giving public remarks. Tim Harmsen, the Gun Owners of America state director for Indiana, expressed his thoughts on Twitter, saying, “Do you think this was done on purpose or just is it more senile moments? I think the guy is so self-absorbed he makes blunders like this. God this man is a massive embarrassment to our nation.”

The White House’s official video of the ceremony added to the intrigue, as it appeared to conveniently cut off immediately after President Biden left the East Room, disregarding the chaplain’s benediction. The Post reached out to the White House for a response to these events but received no immediate comment.

Amidst the controversy surrounding President Biden’s actions, it’s essential to remember the significance of the ceremony. Capt. Larry Taylor received the Medal of Honor for his remarkable heroics during a harrowing June 1968 battle in Vietnam. As a distinguished helicopter pilot, Taylor displayed immense courage and dedication, enduring 45 minutes of intense ground fire while making low-level attack runs to strafe the enemy with bullets and aerial rockets as they closed in on US forces on the ground.

In a daring move that had never been accomplished during the war, Taylor used his two-man Cobra helicopter to extract the US patrol group. His actions were performed with complete disregard for his personal safety, all while facing relentless enemy gunfire.

The controversy surrounding President Biden’s early departure from the Medal of Honor ceremony has sparked a broader conversation about respect, decorum, and the President’s actions during significant events. It remains to be seen whether this incident will have any lasting impact on the perception of President Biden’s leadership and conduct in the eyes of the public.
