DeSantis Betrays the American People in Latest Interview on NBC

Ron DeSantis Interview

In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis further distanced himself from former President Donald Trump’s claims of a “stolen” 2020 election, stating unequivocally that Trump had lost and that Joe Biden was the rightful president. DeSantis’s remarks came after he previously called Trump’s theories of widespread voter fraud “unsubstantiated” and mocked the former president’s outlandish claims of voting machine hacking.

During the interview, NBC correspondent Dasha Burns pressed DeSantis for a clear answer on whether Trump lost the election, to which the governor responded, “No, of course he lost. Joe Biden’s the president.” DeSantis went on to cite various factors that he believed contributed to the election’s outcome, such as election administration grants made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the proliferation of vote-by-mail, and third-party collection of mail-in ballots.

Notably, DeSantis also blamed Trump himself for part of the outcome, stating that the former president’s decisions during the pandemic, such as embracing lockdowns and supporting the CARES Act, which funded mail-in ballots, contributed to the high number of mail-in votes.

In response to Trump’s indictment on charges related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and his alleged attempts to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power, the Trump campaign hit back at DeSantis, accusing him of being too supportive of Joe Biden. However, DeSantis dismissed the indictment as a distraction and accused officials in the U.S. justice system of “weaponizing” the rule of law for electoral advantages.

Despite his vocal criticism of Trump, DeSantis’s poll numbers have lagged behind the former president’s popularity among Republicans. Trump leads the field of GOP presidential hopefuls with 53.7% support nationwide, compared to DeSantis’s 15.7%, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.

In addition to his stance on the 2020 election, DeSantis also defended the new history curriculum in Florida, which has faced criticism from Vice President Kamala Harris and some Republican candidates for allegedly presenting a skewed view of slavery’s impact. DeSantis rejected these claims, arguing that the curriculum focused on educating students and not indoctrination. He emphasized that while slavery was a horrific practice, some individuals developed resourcefulness and skills despite its oppressive nature.

The full interview with Gov. Ron DeSantis will air on the “TODAY” show and “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” on Monday. As the 2024 election approaches, DeSantis’s differing stance on Trump and the controversial curriculum will likely remain under scrutiny as he seeks to gain ground in the Republican primary race.

  1. The liberal media have 2 people running for President that scares them. Trump and Desantis. The media can’t make up their minds who they want to attack the most. So they make it both of them. So much for integrity and being non-biased.

  2. The Florida governor had to say that in order not to be branded by that same media as a J6er.
It was not a betrayal, but it was the best answer he could give in order not to fall into a deeper trap set by the Biden collaborating media.
What he should have done instead was to ignore that invitation and adhere to the old spanish saying, “En boca cerrada no entran moscas” – (flies will not enter when the mouth is closed).
In other words to build around himself a virtual “Biden Basement” of sorts when it comes doing any talking to the Left.
Just keep them wondering and making up lies that will later cause them to trip by a very nefarious opposition.
Silence can be golden at crucial times when battleships could be sunk.
