The suspect was discovered among a group of migrants near Otay Mesa, California, on Wednesday, according to FOX News correspondent Bill Melugin. The FBI has since confirmed the match and is leading the investigation into this alarming incident.

I can confirm that a wanted terrorist crossed our open border in the San Diego region just days ago — even if the Biden Administration won’t.— Rep. Darrell Issa (@repdarrellissa) May 14, 2023
Republican Congressman Darrell Issa, who has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s immigration policies, expressed his concerns regarding the arrest.
“Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking and the deadliest drug crisis in our history,” Issa said in a statement.
“Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on, and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done,” he added.
This alarming incident follows another concerning discovery at the Douglas, Arizona, port of entry earlier on Sunday. During a routine check, CBP officers uncovered an improvised explosive device (IED) that was bound for the United States. Border Patrol promptly turned over the device to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the Department of Homeland Security is leading the investigation into the matter.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced indicating a surge in apprehensions of known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) at US border entry points under the Biden administration. According to a new report, 300 suspected terrorists have already been apprehended in fiscal year 2023, raising concerns about national security and the effectiveness of border enforcement measures.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by border security agencies and the need for a comprehensive and effective approach to immigration and border control policies. The ongoing investigations will shed more light on this worrisome development and its implications for national security.
