BREAKING NEWS: Afghan National on FBI Terror Watchlist Arrested Crossing US-Mexico Border

San Diego, CA – Border Patrol agents in the San Diego sector have apprehended an individual of Afghan origin who was on the FBI’s terror watchlist. The suspect was discovered among a group of migrants near Otay Mesa, California, on Wednesday, according to FOX News correspondent Bill Melugin. The FBI has since confirmed the match and is leading the investigation into this alarming incident.

“BREAKING: Per multiple CBP sources, Border Patrol agents in San Diego sector arrested an Afghan national on the FBI’s terror watchlist after he crossed illegally w/ group of migrants near Otay Mesa, CA on Wednesday. I’m told FBI confirmed the match, & is leading investigation,” Melugin announced on Sunday.

Republican Congressman Darrell Issa, who has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s immigration policies, expressed his concerns regarding the arrest.

“Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking and the deadliest drug crisis in our history,” Issa said in a statement.

“Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on, and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done,” he added.

This alarming incident follows another concerning discovery at the Douglas, Arizona, port of entry earlier on Sunday. During a routine check, CBP officers uncovered an improvised explosive device (IED) that was bound for the United States. Border Patrol promptly turned over the device to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the Department of Homeland Security is leading the investigation into the matter.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced indicating a surge in apprehensions of known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) at US border entry points under the Biden administration. According to a new report, 300 suspected terrorists have already been apprehended in fiscal year 2023, raising concerns about national security and the effectiveness of border enforcement measures.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by border security agencies and the need for a comprehensive and effective approach to immigration and border control policies. The ongoing investigations will shed more light on this worrisome development and its implications for national security.
